Feet of Notorgo
A spell named for a messenger god in the mythological traditions of the Iliac Bay. The method consists of an incantation, vocal or mental, of the High Bretonic phrase "Eiseement et Erraument", and a willful tautening of the Aetheric pathways through the body, in a manner that comports with the techniques of standard journeyman fortification practice, such that magic is leached through the main pathways into the musculature and skeleton. The effect is to moderately increase the capacity of the muscle fibers and bones to endure strain, and also of the musculature to support quicker running.
Abi-Dalzim's Horrid Wilting
Most likely a pseudonym, stories have sprung up in abundance of a Redguard mage and his torrid love affair with a noble lady. Others tell of a necromancer with an acute interest in replicating the withering touch of some of the most dangerous undead creatures in existence. In any case, this is a ritual spell, having a sacrifice, albeit a trivial one. The caster incants two words of power, "AZD ASHN", and holds their hands roughly flat and perpendicular to the path of the spell, and a drop of their blood will vanish from existence, never to be replenished in the course of their natural life, and a mote of inky blackness, nearly transparent in the air, will shoot forth. The creature it contacts will have the moisture in their body rapidly and violently evaporated, unless the effect is magically interfered with by a counter ritual or ritual enchantment, both dessicating them and causing an unpredictable amount of damage from the rupturing of tissues. Almost certainly, if they were living, they will die. Considered highly illegal magic by most governments that are aware of its existence, including those of Imperial Skyrim, Cyrodiil, High Rock, and Morrowind, and all the states of the Aldmeri Dominion, but not that of the governments of Hammerfell or Argonia, or of the scholar's city-state of Sunlock.
Hjolfr's Lesser Wilting
A modification of Abi-Dalzim's Horrid Wilting, invented by Sunlock's Hjolfr (of the Reach). The result of an ingenious epiphany in the field of ritual magic, the Lesser Wilting sacrifices that which the Horrid Wilting seeks to evacuate. The moisture present in the target is sacrificed in order to produce a bright and long-lasting light, neatly sidestepping all analysis of costs over time in favor of a ritual-in-name-only which devastates a target and costs the caster not a droplet of bodily fluids. The method of casting is here omitted for reasons that should be obvious to any but the most ardent libertarian.
Rho Aias
Another ritual spell, which though the name most commonly given in Tamriel is of vulgar Bosmeric origin, itself originated far to the East in an uncertain culture of Akavir. Known in its home as the unweildy "Seven Rings which Occult the Burning Heavens", it fittingly is cast with seven hand gestures and the sacrifice of seven months of life. The effect is a purplish shield in the shape of a seven-petaled flower, which defends with absolute sovereignty against seven attacks of great power, or seventy-seven seconds of negligibly impotent assault.
Isaac's Greater Missile Storm
A combat spell of immense potency, likely named for a Psijic of the Second Era. It requires only a moderate amount of magicka input, but due to the necessary mass targeting procedure, it is an attack only available to spellcasters with great mastery of both divination and effect-chaining. The caster initiates and maintains a process in a node of the effect-chain which takes a roll of targets and their signatures in a divinatory array. This array is then chained into a simultaneous scrying process which tracks the movement of the signatures in Mundane space, and records them in a second array. The third process allocates magicka from the input feed evenly to a set of missile primitives, which at the moment of resolution actualize and are guided by a fourth and final process of distal control. The result is a swarm of missiles of arbitrary number, unerringly seeking their targets in a haze of bright, hot magic.
